few weeks ago gave me this wonderful idea, why not write something about the pediments of the capital? Well truth is it was another of the great entertainment of the locals, so just for today, this blog is called: Where are the pediments of Madrid?
The pediment Madrid was built on a narrow street downtown the capital, which in turn had great commercial appeal and was one focus of amusement of the locals. Ideal film in one corner, on the other the Odeon Theatre or Calderon, a little further down the movie theater Figaro and practically deal with this, the pediment Madrid. The new building Ildefonso was owned Anabiarte, owner of Modern handball which was then on the other side of the street and after the opening of its successor, would be demolished building in its place the movie theater Figaro ownership. The new store was designed by architect Eduardo Lozano Lardet, the same as a year earlier had designed the Cinema San Carlos de la Calle de Atocha. The building was built on a plot with enough depth that would project their field perpendicular to the axis of Cortezo Doctor Street, leaving the main front entrances, cafeteria and restaurant lounges.

The cover had been made in solid brick, with large artificial stone jambs and lintels of all their holes, especially highlighting the colorful stained glass windows installed in all plants. The building had a long side yard light that filled the room, and a dome of glass and iron by the light coming in torrents. The entrance to the premises could be made from five holes, side with direct access to grandstands and restaurant, and three plants with access to the court, with all interconnected. The first hole and more to the left, was the entrance to the living area on the first floor and restaurant on the second.

Crossing this door we were a large lobby, with the high ceiling and marble floor, like the staircase from the left. At the other extreme a large door of communication to the central lobby and installed in the stairwell going up an elevator to the rooftop plant, which was the summer terrace. The second central lobby and had three doors to the street, was the most comprehensive, it was access to the court that was through a staircase of two shots, which was installed under the fountain. Were in this space lockers are wood stakes that were near the central entrance. The walls were decorated simply had them modern niches with vases, soils as well as other lobby were marble and the ceilings have plaster moldings and rosettes.

On the right side of this lobby tore a staircase of five steps that converged with that started near the door on the fifth hole or right side and going up to the mezzanine floor where were the stands. Right next to this stairway was a lower side to the hall, built under the grandstand ramp and served first access to the entire length of hollow ladder.

The building was built with iron frame and brick, which gave him a very light and graceful presence. The provision of localities in the court facility was done in eight rows of seats, on the first floor was divided into small boxes or stands with movable chairs and the third was a large and steep stands with general admission, adding in full 1500 locations. These steps, both in the lower ground floor, main or first had access and evacuation from two straight shots on both sides, plus a lift to the higher sites. Advances had all the time and cafeteria service in their own localities which was carried from the restaurant itself through elevators and dumbwaiters. As discussed above could be performed independent access to the tea room and restaurant, not only because it was also possible to access the gable own plants, so that could operate autonomously. The steps as mentioned above, up to the first floor where you installed the living area, when fully illuminated by very broad stained glass windows to the main street, with an elaborate iron railing shapes with polished wooden handrail.

On the tea room and occupying the same space installed the restaurant, as we have said before receiving light from the outside by one side, and shared kitchen with stairs access service and dumbwaiter. On these two plants was a large terrace to where they moved in the summer evenings, snacks and dinner.

The restaurant opened with honors on June 5, 1929, an event that gathered the most important newspapers of the time.

This building was originally filed with a high level of architecture has come to be completely free except for its facade which will be respected. Demolition work began in 2009 and were retained only part of the bay front, which was also completely emptied.

In a couple of years this building will be occupied by a new, centrally located luxury hotel with several floors of basement garage, with the disappearance of this, which was largely intact, is only standing the "Beti Jai", which if not remedied end succumbing to a pickaxe.
