Excited about the adoption of the Rosette, M. Belgrano designed a flag with the same colors, raised for the first time in Rosario, along the Parana River.
There, in the batteries "Freedom" and "Independence" made her swear
his soldiers. Then he sent a letter communicating the fact to the Government. That same day, the Triumvirate ordered to take over the Northern Army, demoralized after the defeat of Huaqui. Following the declaration of independence on July 9, 1816, the blue and white flag was a symbol adopted by Congress on July 20, 1816, Congress added the sun on February 25, 1818.
On June 8, 1938, with congressional approval, the then President of the Nation, Robert M. Ortiz, signed into law 12361. This provides that on June 20 is Flag Day and declares it a national holiday in honor of Manuel Belgrano (died June 20, 1820).
